Northstar Ski Resort Now Open!

It’s that time of year! The ski resorts around Lake Tahoe and Truckee are opening! Northstar-at-Tahoe just opened last week with 6 lifts running and 11 trails accessible. For information about snow conditions and ski passes click here.

The New Village at Northstar

Northstar is one of the most exciting developments in the whole Tahoe Basin!  Currently under construction is Tahoe’s first 5 Star Resort – the Ritz-Carlton which is expected to open in Winter 2009.  Other new developments within Northstar include the Village Walk Townhomes and the Residences at the Hyatt. Northstar has fun events for the whole family all year long and is one of the most popular family vacation spots!

Lots of Activity in Northstar!

Northstar seems to be the happening place right now! Since the condos went on sale last month, 10 condos in the Village at Northstar went under contract this month alone. The condos were discounted nearly 25% but the sale only lasted a short time. The condos went up to the full prices again yesterday, so the people currently under contract really lucked out!

Many people are taking advantage of all the summer activites offered at Northstar. The mountain bike park at there is very popular and some bikers are getting quite a lot of use out of it.  Here is more info on the Mountain Biking at Northstar. The chair lift there at the mountain is free for people who just want to ride to the top and walk around. Northstar is the only mountain in the area that offers free lift rides to people during the summer. Mountain bikers have to pay to bring their bikes up, but it is free for the rest of the adventurers! There are some great hikes up at the top there for people looking to get out and enjoy the outdoors with some spectacular views.

There are some exciting new commercial buildings coming to Northstar as well. The Chocolate Bar is a well known bar/cafe in Reno and they just opened a second location at the new Summit Mall in southwest Reno. Exciting news for Truckee/Northstar – The Chocolate Bar will be coming to Northstar this winter! Baxter’s is another fantastic restaurant that is coming to Northstar this winter. Lots of exciting new developments in the Village at Northstar!

Northstar-at-Tahoe

Northstar-at-Tahoe is the happening place in the Truckee Tahoe area right now.  This year round resort community is located off of Highway 267 in between Truckee and Lake Tahoe. Properties here range from $800,000 to over $6 million.  Condo prices start at $400,000 to $3,400,000. Amenities at Northstar include: 18 hole golf course, driving range, cross country ski center, downhill skiing, swimming pools, sauna, spas, weight room, tennis courts, equestrian center, conference center, restaurants and shops. Northstar property owners have the option to purchase a membership with the Tahoe Mountain Club.

The Highlands is in the process of being built and properties here will be available as whole or shared ownerships. The Ritz-Carlton is Tahoe’s first 5 star resort and just opened in December 2009.
