Vail Has Purchased Northstar!

The rumors are true – Northstar has just changed ownership! Vail Resorts has purchased the ski resort. Here is an article giving the details of this recent ski resort purchase…

As you may have heard recently, Vail Resorts has acquired the ski and resort operations of Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort. Vail Resorts is the leading mountain resort operator in the United States and operates the mountain resort properties of Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado along with Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort in Lake Tahoe, California.

Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort fits perfectly into Vail’s family of world-class mountain resorts. Its substantial and diverse ski terrain, top snow conditioning and grooming, family-focused staff, completely renovated and modern base village with retail and dining offerings and acclaimed guest services throughout have combined to make Northstar-at-Tahoe one of the fastest growing mountain resorts over the past few years. Last winter the resort hosted over 700,000 skier visits.

Truckee is the place to be this holiday season! There are all kinds of events in and around the whole Tahoe area. The Village at Northstar features its Noel Nights every Thursday from 5 pm-8pm until December 16th. Turtleneck Thursdays is also offered in The Village at Northstar every Thursday evening from 5-8pm through the winter season. Ice skating is free and it costs $5 to rent skates. Come out and enjoy the music and s’mores by the firepits! Check out other featured events listed below.

Truckee Music in the Park

It is officially summer in Truckee and Music in the Park has just begun! This great event is fun for the whole family. Local musicians and bands come out to play in the Truckee Regional Park every Wednesday starting June 16th through August 25th. Concerts go from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Some people like to bring a picnic dinner or a glass of wine to enjoy on the grass while listening to music.

The Truckee Regional Park is located off of Brockway Road just a couple minutes from downtown Truckee. Check out a concert this summer!

Memorial Day Weekend Paddleboard Race

This paddleboarding race is at Donner Lake on Saturday, May 29th starting at 9:00 a.m. The distance is 5 miles around the lake. Tickets are $50.00. Truckee Home Show

The 18th annual Truckee Home Show is this weekend! Located at Truckee High School on Donner Pass Road in Truckee. Event is Memorial Day Weekend – May 29-30, 2010. Tickets are $6 and proceeds benefit local schools.

There will be more than 140 displays and everything you’ll need to build or remodel your home in Truckee!

SunChaser Challenge at Northstar

The SunChaser Challenge is this Saturday, May 22nd at Northstar! Events include running, mountain biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, road biking and basic navigating. This is a team event and the challenge is to “save” the endangered animals with each discipline.

There is also a 10K trail run at Lake Tahoe starting at 11:00 a.m.

11th Annual Best of Tahoe Chefs
