Vail Has Purchased Northstar!

The rumors are true – Northstar has just changed ownership! Vail Resorts has purchased the ski resort. Here is an article giving the details of this recent ski resort purchase…

As you may have heard recently, Vail Resorts has acquired the ski and resort operations of  Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort. Vail Resorts is the leading mountain resort operator in the United States and operates the mountain resort properties of Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado along with  Heavenly Mountain Resort and Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort in Lake Tahoe, California.

Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort fits perfectly into Vail’s family of world-class mountain resorts. Its substantial and diverse ski terrain, top snow conditioning and grooming, family-focused staff, completely renovated and modern base village with retail and dining offerings and acclaimed guest services throughout have combined to make Northstar-at-Tahoe one of the fastest growing mountain resorts over the past few years. Last winter the resort hosted over 700,000 skier visits.

A winter sports paradise, Northstar offers 19 lifts, 93 ski trails spread across 3,000 acres, snowmaking that covers 50 percent of the ski trails, seven terrain parks and snow sports including alpine and telemark skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tubing.

December 2010 Calendar of Events

Truckee is the place to be this holiday season! There are all kinds of events in and around the whole Tahoe area. The Village at Northstar features its Noel Nights every Thursday from 5 pm-8pm until December 16th. Turtleneck Thursdays is also offered in The Village at Northstar every Thursday evening from 5-8pm through the winter season. Ice skating is free and it costs $5 to rent skates.
